Have you ever wondered where these bikers go, all geared up with their helmets, jackets and bikes? Today, we are here to take you with us on one of these journeys. One of the misconceptions is that people think bikers ride just to pass the time on weekends. But that’s not always true. Most of the time, they are on the wheels for a cause, aiming for a positive impact on people's lives. Demons on Throttle (DOT) is here to share a CSR initiative of distributing bags and stationery to a government school in Belagavadi, Ramanagar District, Karnataka, along with Apollo Tyres.
When the initiative was proposed, it took two weeks to finalise a date. The day arrived on 14th July 2024. The Apollo team and DOT riders assembled at 7 AM at Kalabayreshwara Tyre Center on Outer Ring Road, Laggere. We received an absolutely warm welcome from the Apollo team with biscuits and hot coffee. There was a briefing session from the DOT manager, and the ride was flagged off with a group photo and cheers.
A rider cannot ask for more when there is perfect cloudy weather, less traffic, and their members following the lane. At 9 AM, we stopped for breakfast (filling our stomachs is a must for a long day ahead of us).
At 10:30 AM, we reached Magadi, where one of our representatives was ready with garlands and flowers to pay respects at the Mari Kempegowda statue. We learned about the sacrifices Kempegowda made for the freedom we enjoy now, which brought us insight and respect for the cities he laid the foundation stones for.
From there, after riding for 15 km on a village road where pollution has not reached and nature and peace remain undisturbed, we reached the Government School in Belagavadi. We were welcomed with giggles and smiles from kids who were patiently waiting for us on their holiday.
The program began at 11:30 AM with a welcome speech by the school principal, Mr. Nagesh. For Demons on Throttle members, it must be said that this was one of the best days, as it brought us back to school days by looking at the kids and the school environment. We interacted with the kids, discussing their studies and ambitions, and offering helpful tips. It was a two-way engaging session where even the kids showed their talent with songs and speeches.
We then distributed the school bags and stationery. The happiness on the kids' faces was priceless. We realised it was more than just a CSR drive; it was a beautiful hope to bring change in kids' lives and help them reach places with great ambitions.
At 1 PM, we geared up to start our journey back to Bangalore with great enthusiasm, looking forward to more rides like these, rides for a purpose—a positive one. All these beautiful moments of our entire journey were captured by Mr. Jnanendra and his team. We would like to thank them for documenting the experience. Our team members were thrilled to be part of this meaningful social aim, making the time spent with the kids truly worthwhile.
